Hi, I’m Katie Becker.

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Calm Waters Counseling. I'm Katie Becker, a Licensed Professional Counselor committed to helping teens and adults navigate life’s challenges with clarity, confidence, and resilience. Whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, life transitions, or other emotional struggles, my goal is to offer a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can find relief and create meaningful change.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Missouri in 2007 and a Master’s Degree in Counseling in 2012. After working in social services and serving as a school counselor for over a decade, I transitioned into full-time private practice. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2019 and have been working in private practice since 2017.

My approach to therapy integrates Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I work collaboratively with clients to define their goals, build on their strengths, and develop practical tools to overcome obstacles and improve overall well-being. Whether you're seeking support through a specific issue or looking to grow personally, I’m here to walk alongside you in that process.

I look forward to connecting and supporting you on your journey toward healing and growth.

Core Beliefs

authenticity

I believe in being real—with myself and with you. Authenticity means showing up with honesty, transparency, and a genuine commitment to your well-being. It’s about creating a space where you can be your true self, without masks or expectations.

connection

Healing happens in relationships. I prioritize building a safe, trusting connection where you feel seen, heard, and supported. This bond is the foundation for meaningful change and emotional resilience.

mindfulness

I practice being present—with you and within myself. Mindfulness invites awareness, calm, and clarity into our work together. It helps us slow down, tune in, and respond with intention rather than reaction.

self-discovery

Counseling is a journey inward. I honor your process of exploring who you are, what you value, and where you want to go. Through reflection and insight, self-discovery empowers you to live with purpose and authenticity.

non-judgement

You are welcome here—just as you are. I hold space with compassion and curiosity, not criticism. Non-judgement allows you to speak freely, explore openly, and grow without fear of shame or rejection.
